Heather Baily - Non-Executive Director
Heather Baily has been a Non-Executive Director with Dorset HealthCare since October 2017. Her previous professional experience is in the criminal justice system and policing. She spent 27 years with the Metropolitan Police Service in London, leaving there in 2007 after four years as the Borough commander for Hammersmith and Fulham, to go to Hertfordshire Constabulary as an Assistant Chief Constable and later as Deputy Chief Constable.
At Hertfordshire, she was the lead for collaboration with Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire police services and the East of England lead for Serious and Organised crime. Since retiring from policing in 2012 she has held senior roles in the Garda Inspectorate in the Republic of Ireland, inspecting policing services there for the Minister for Justice, as a member of the National Crime Agency (NCA) and Police Pay Review body and as Non-Executive Director with the Department of Justice in Northern Ireland.
She is currently the Chair of the Security Industry Authority, (SIA) a UK-wide regulator for the private security industry. She is currently contributing to UK wide initiatives to improve public safety, particularly that of women and girls. Since joining the Trust, Heather has been the chair of the Audit and Risk Committee and currently chairs the Mental Health Act Assurance committee. She is also currently our Deputy Chair.1
