Jonathon Williams

Jonathon Williams.jpgElected for two years 2021.

Why do you want to be a governor?

Professionally, I am in a unique position within my role to meet with people from across our Trust in forums that promote psychological safety that in turn nurtures candour and honesty in our interactions. Personally, I am invested in our outcomes as I am a lifelong Dorset resident and a current service user. My aim is to provide a local voice that promotes end to end accountability for both our Trust and the people of our county. I want to drive up memberships across Dorset using my wide reaching network to empower people to take ownership (where safe to do so) of their own health and well-being. I also want to be a conduit to our board reflecting the views, attitudes and feelings of our communities. I am motivated by the need to make things better.

What skills do you feel you could bring to the role?

I have been a public servant for 12 years, 3 years of which have been within Dorset Healthcare. I am a Dorset system wide coach, I am a qualified mediator and I deliver leadership and personal effectiveness training across all service lines. This allows me to gain insight into individuals' an d teams' pain points and most importantly their successes. I have the ability to be present and engaged at the shop floor/resident level and effectively communicate the wants and needs of the people to our board.
