Yeatman Hospital - Sherborne

Information on visiting sites and inpatient wards

The Yeatman Hospital was founded in 1886 by the friends of the Reverend Harry Farr Yeatman, a local squire and magistrate who was well known and respected by all his friends and associates. Together with the local community they raised £2,471.1s.6d to establish the hospital.

The Yeatman Hospital delivers a wide range of services on behalf of Dorset HealthCare as well as our acute hospitals. We have a 30 bedded in-patient unit called the Willows which includes the Rowan and Beech wards, each with a purpose built end of life suite. End of life care is one of our specialities and we were very proud to have national accreditation for the standard of our care (Gold Standard Framework 2016).

We also provide rehabilitation services from the in-patient unit and our community hub. We focus on wrapping care around the most vulnerable of our local community, aiming to keep them well for as long as possible in their own home. The hub is made up of the community nursing team, the therapy team, the mental health team and the social work team - all working seamlessly to provide a comprehensive and integrated service.

We provide a wide range of outpatient clinics including orthopaedics, urology, ophthalmology and physiotherapy. The Castleton Day Unit is run by Yeovil District Hospital and delivers minor surgery and procedures.

The Yeatman Hospital is a thriving and busy hospital that offers local services to our local community. We are very proud of our reputation and all the services that we deliver. We are very well supported by our local community just as we were a 150 years ago – the spirit lives on.
