Dorset HealthCare’s Work Services
Dorset Healthcare provides three services to help with vocational goals:-1
This is an Occupational Therapy led service covering the whole of Dorset. Its for people whose long-term health condition is affecting their work options and who also have a work-related (vocational) goal.
Vocational goals could include finding ways to manage health needs in areas such as:
· Retaining current employment and exploring other options
· Returning to paid work, voluntary work or education
· Retraining for employment
‘Vocational Rehabilitation is a process whereby those disadvantaged by illness or disability can be enabled to access, maintain or return to employment or other useful occupation.’
(British Society of Rehabilitation Medicine (2003, p5.) Vocational rehabilitation - the way forward. 2nd edition. British Society of Rehabilitation Medicine, London)
Dorset Work Matters is a new service for individuals with a mental health condition who are under the Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) and wanting to gain PAID employment. Employment specialists work using the Individual Placement Support approach. Referrals are made through the CMHT.
This service is for individuals who are currently been seen by an Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) service or on the Steps 2 Wellbeing waiting list.
Support is given with employment issues.
